When I first went to Sunderban about 12 years ago, most of the Egg island was a barren meadow with a lot of sand like a desert. Now this small Island became full of mangrove and life with a lot of birds and mammals. |

Part of Sunderban and its population is severely devastated by the cyclone Sidr. Katka do not have any installation standing, all destroyed. Kachikhaly is also similar except the rest house. Tigers seen dead, deer and other wildlife died in thousands. Thousands of people died in Dubla island and around, thousands are lost. Similar stories from other adjacent islands.
